So here goes the bigest news of my life. I am
ENGAGED!!! Yes, can you believe that. I couldn't either. It came as such a shock! I couldn't be happier.
Lets see... All week he has told me that he wanted to go down to the lake where we take "our walks" and look at the eagles migrating. Me being the ditz that i am did not think much of it. Well Friday i had to take him to his car for work the next day and he asked if we had plans as normal and I told him no, but we should call Derek and Rose (friends- that just moved up here and always wanna hang out but we have been so busy) He said ok I will call him and let you know the plans.
I got a call and he said Derek is working in Nephi and we cant do dinner till eight. I said " oh man, I am going to be starving, oh well." He then asked if we could go for a walk and look at the eagles. I said sure we have a lot of time to spare.
When I got home from work I changed and we left. We got to our spot out at Utah Lake Boat Harbor where on the outside of the lake there is a paved walk and only one table/bench thing about 3/4 the way up. We just walked and talked casually like usual. It was so cold! So cold that my mouth was getting numb while talking. Also it got dark pretty quick.
Well about 40 yards away I see some candle lights and a fire. (Here is the story with he said, she said) I said "look candles, it looks like a satanic ritual." He laughed and came back with "yea, maybe they are sacraficing those cows across the field." " Shhh, be quiet they can prolly hear you."
Aaron then started up the path of candles to the fire to get warm." Come back here, its not ours." "No one is here babe, what are they gonna do?" " Still that is rude maybe we are inturpting something."- " Why do you think this fire is here?"
Aaron" Because a boy fell in love with a girl,*..... And he wants to spend the rest of his life with her."
Me: ...* "What! are you serious?" I started crying and laughing. I could not believe it. "This is your fire?" " You are a nerd, you are so tricky."
I started taking the ring out of the box and he said "Wait you have to say yes or no first!"
Me: "Yes, will you put it on for me."
Aaron: "I have a confession to make, we are not going out with Derek and Rose" "I have another confession to make, I did not go to work today- this is what i did all day." "One more confession, there are not eagles, its winter."
Me: You are such a nerd, I am embarrassed and completly shocked.
Aaron:Why dont you speak right into this mic and tell Kenny he can come out of the bushes.
Me: "You are wired! How embarrassing! Oh man I am embarrassed."
So Kenny left and I turned around and the table was lit with candles and a gas stove top camping thing. He had been making us hot chocolate.
Kenny was too far back to get video but he sure got audio. LOL
Aaron made us tomatoe soup and grilled cheese. It was tasty! We hung out and then as we were leaving the path was lit with candles for our way out.
He did such an amazing job at surprising me and planning it. It could not have been better. I am so happy to be marring him. I am excited to spend the rest of my life with him. I love you, Aaron. Thanks for being you. We have set the date to June 12, 2009 in Logan and will be having another reception in Orem the following evening.
Here is a picture of my ring, we did not get any of that night, but we do have audio with a little picture. Bummer, but its great memories.
I did it! Yes I did! I went dark. I have dyed it darker in the past and have loved it so when I have been thinking of all my marriage plans i contemplated it. With the help and assurance of my beautiful, wonderful and talented hairstylist, Debi Dix we got the job done. She did a wonderful job because I LOVE it. Thanks Debi.
